From: Dan Dennis Date: 9/01/2007 14:37 PDT My name is Dan Dennis and I live in Chico, Ca. I made an attempt to stay up this morning (after working a 12 hour shift) to see this once in a life time meteor shower. To say the least I was fairly dissapointed. I have a feeling however that my viewing position was probably not as well choosen as I originally thought. My choosen viewing location was in the mountains surrounding Hwy 70 near Concow, CA in Butte county. The sky was relativly dark concidering the moon but I was able to stay in the shade of a tree for most of the night. But I was only able to see a handfull of meteors(about 4 or 5 total) which were like none I've ever seen. They mostly appeared near the edges of the treeline spanning from North to North East. I was not able to see the horizon line as the mountains were blocking the view. In your opinion would it have been better to be able to see lower into the N/NE sky? I'm asking because I was hoping to photograph this meteor shower as I had done with the Persieds earlier this month. Do you know if it will be possible to see remnants of this meteor shower over the next few days or was this morning the only chance? I would definately like to be able to capture these meteors on film even if the ZHR is lower than the peak from this morning. I would really appreciate a relpy sometime today if you can so I can be back at it again tomorrow morning. Thank you for your time and the advance warning that this meteor shower was going to occur.
