From: Paul Kohlmiller Date: 9/06/2007 17:23 PDT We went outside after 4 a.m. Sept. 1 to look at the Aurigids. We counted 26 meteors between 4:10 and 5:10 a.m. Perhaps 3 of those were not Aurigids. At least one of the 3 seemed to be a leftover Perseid. The peak may have been three meteors that appeared in short order around 4:25. Sorry, we did not take any pictures. We used the house to block the moon which also probably blocked some meteors. Despite the mooniness, we could see Kappa Taurus suggesting a limiting magnitude of 4.2. The skies in Gilroy are marginally darker than those in San Jose. (I know you've been to Coyote Lake Park; we are almost due west from there). The Aurigids seemed to be fast and short. I don't know that any subtended an angle longer than Orion's belt. The colors all seem to be the same also - yellow. Paul and Mary Kohlmiller
