From: Cayla Jennigs Date: 9/01/2007 12:55 PDT Thank you for your amazing detailed coverage of this wonderful once in a lifetime event. I was very excited and awoke at 4:15 a.m. to go lay in the backyard and look for Aurigid. I really started looking at around 4:22 a.m. and within a few minutes or so I saw the most amazing shooting star I have ever seen!! It came from the N NE and was a long, long shooting star of this amazingly brilliant "Traffic Light" Green. To give you an idea of how long it was - if I held a ruler out in front of my eyes at arms length, looking up at the sky, the shooting star would have been 12 inches long from start to finish. Thats an amazingly long distance! It had a slight downward path. It had a definite "head" that became very apparent about half way thru its flight and had a sparkly, flashy nature to it. It disappeared heading SW. This was the "STAR" of the night I am sure. I did see 3 other much shorter white flashes that were more "supporting cast" to this 1 amazing show stopper. I will never forget that shooting star as long as i live. It will always be a favorite of mine. I had my camera but was unable to capture it because I was so in awe and "starstruck" by it. I wish I had gotten a picture of it, but seeing it naturally, with my own eyes, from start to finish is something that is simply priceless to me. I am wondering if you guys saw or filmed the same shooting star I did. You would not forget it if you did. Like i said it came between 4:24 - 4:32. Thank you for such a wonderful website and your enthusiasm in which you write in it. i can feel your excitement and that is a wonderful feeling. Happy Cosmic Viewing!! Cayla P.S. I live in Indio, Calif which is about 20 miles east of Palm Springs. Very dark sky as we are out in the desert.
