From: Jeremy Tatum Date: 9/10/2007 10:04 PDT I'm impressed - there was an Aurigid shower on the dot, exactly when you said it would be. On the morning of Sept 1 I drove to a dark site (near Victoria, British Columbia), but it was almost totally cloudy, and I was just about to give up at about 11:10 UT. However, I noticed a small gap in the clouds in the south, so I raced right through town to get to a park there. I got there at 11:29 UT, and the very instant that I got out of my car there was a bright Aurigid. I didn't have to wait at all. There were two more Aurigids in the next five minutes, so it was already better that the Perseids, which are a dead loss these days. Then there was a short gap, and then three more Aurigids plus a sporadic between 11:46 and 11:51 UT, and then the clouds caught up with me again. This may not sound like much, but it wasn't a dark sky and I wasn't dark adapted; these were all bright meteors. It beat the Perseids hands down. Anyway - well done! I am impressed. A nice shower. I hope you did well, too. Jeremy Tatum
