From: Mike and Judi Palumbo Date: 9/01/2007 13:35 PDT We saw them! We live 17 miles west of Portland, Oregon and began observing about 4:23am. Because Portland is east of us we were looking into a sky that was fairly bright with city light. However, we observed 10 very bright, long streaks in a 20 minute period from 4:25 to 4:45. They were much brighter and longer lasting than any we saw during the Leonid shower. We did not see any more after 4:25am. Thanks for informing the public about this once-in-a-lifetime event. It was well worth getting up early for. Regards, Judi Palumbo Jacob Palumbo (age 12) Maura Palumbo (age 10)
